Title: Systems Administrator
Salary: $75-90K
Position: Direct Hire

What is this?
The System Administrator is responsible for server and storage infrastructure including assessing, project planning, implementing, documenting, and supporting complex systems infrastructure environments. A Systems Administrator will be involved in multiple projects through all life-cycle phases in accordance with established procedures and standards. Diagnoses, isolates and debugs system problems, performs problem resolution and provides Tier II technical support for all enterprise systems including Active Directory, Exchange, NISC, AOE, CMS, Metaswitch Application servers, and the Storage environment. Coordinates with Tier III technical support, which is typically a vendor support infrastructure.

What does my day look like?
A. Systems Administration:
1. Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
2. Contribute to and maintain standards.
3. Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
4. Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.
5. Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
6. Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.

B. Systems Engineering:
1. Perform configuration of servers in accordance with systems engineering best practices and program documentation requirements.
2. Provide hardware/software expertise for business applications on servers and in the storage environment.
3. Works closely with other departments to ensure knowledge of enterprise standards and strategies ensuring solutions are aligned with these standards and strategies
4. Implement, administer, secure, document and monitor Enterprise Servers, including hardware, operating system, VMware, and Storage Devices.
5. Responsible for installing, supporting, securing, and maintaining purchased software packages.
6. Analyze current utilization and future growth and upgrade needs based on capacity planning information.

C. Problem Management:
1. Provide technical expertise and assist Service Desk in implementation, problem determination as well as system and application tuning for enterprise workstation systems.
2. Provide 3rd level support, analysis, permanent documented resolutions for server and systems issues, and communicate the status of problems and resolutions to enterprise departmental groups and customers.

D. Backup/Recovery:
1. Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media.
2. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted customers.

E. Participate in Projects:
1. With minimal supervision, work with project teams, determine needs and make technical recommendations to ensure correct server and storage options are designed and installed.

F. Project Leadership:
1. Fulfill the Project Leader role through the project management process.
2. Lead project teams.
3. Provide liaison role for project team and management.
4. Responsible for technical deliverables.
5. Provide technical expertise and advice as needed.
6. Identify risk and develop containment strategies.
7. Manage the design effort and provide design documentation.
8. Assist Project Owner with implementation, planning and execution.
9. Communicate project status to customers and project teams.

G. Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.*

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
The required specifications (education, experience, and skills) are those that the employee must have to hold the position. 1. Required education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Desired education:
4 year College degree in a technology related field.
3. Required experience:
4+ years of experience with LANs/WANs and network and systems configuration and administration. Must possess a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, VMware, Microsoft IIS, Microsoft Exchange, Linux ISP services administration (DNS, DHCP, email). Strong network technology/topology and broad systems administration background. Thorough understanding of server hardware and concepts including services, security, and multiple domains. Working knowledge of SAN, NAS, iSCSI and networking protocols. Experience troubleshooting computer hardware/software related problems.
4. Additional desired experience:
Experience with Dell PowerEdge servers, programming and/or web development, VoIP.
5. Required skills:
High level of attention to detail, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively with enterprise personnel to accomplish company goals. Aptitude for learning new material quickly. Thorough knowledge of technical disciplines required to support a mission-critical Windows, Linux, and VMware enterprise. Skills include day-to-day system administration and the management server hardware and virtual machines to ensure performance and high-availability requirements of systems and services are met. Diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills. Planning and goal setting at high and detailed levels; ability to implement technical strategy and design solutions to meet that strategy. Ability to solve problems independently, quickly and completely and to communicate them clearly to management. 45+ WPM keyboarding. Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle appropriate for the job position. Ability to effectively function as a team player.

6. Desired skills:
Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Ability to lead other personnel during projects and in day-to-day operations. Needs to be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to take the initiative and to work without direct supervision.
V. Additional criteria that should be recognized in evaluating the scope and impact of this position:
On call 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Must have knowledge of many areas and be able to switch between them rapidly. Must be able to work under pressure and provide guidance to users during crisis modes.
This position requires the employee to be available by phone and/or email and/or have accessibility to calendar, contacts and data while out of the office.
