Position: Direct Hire – Part-time


What is this?
The Chief Financial Officer oversees and ensures company growth and profitability by managing the finance, treasury, and accounting functions. This position is responsible for financial controls, allocation, utilization of resources and for tax preparation, ad valorem tax administration, accounting, budgeting, receivables, treasury, cash management, job costing.

What does my day look like?
• Develops metrics, tools, and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to company leaders and makes actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
• Engages senior leadership to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections.
• Engages senior leadership around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery.
• Develops and utilizes forward-looking, predictive financial models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations, business plans, and industry trends.
• Oversees the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Accounting department's operations and the coordination of its programs with other departments.
• Monitors regulatory changes and develops new or modifies existing financial procedures to comply with regulations and enhance operational efficiency; interprets and communicates management decisions, policies, and directives to personnel; and communicates staff needs and suggestions to the President and other senior management.
• Ensures that financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the organization’s short- and long-term objectives and regulatory body requirements.
• Directs the establishment and maintenance of an accounting system and internal controls which guarantees the accurate management of the financial efforts of the organization. Works with the external auditors on completing the external audit.
• Oversees the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function.
• Directs the preparation and approval of the annual budget.
• Actively participates in business development opportunities and activities, inclusive of due diligence and modeling.
• Studies, analyzes, and reports on trends, opportunities for expansion, acquisitions, mergers, and projection of future company growth.
• Appraises the organization's financial position and issues periodic reports on organization's financial stability, liquidity, and growth.
• Performs economic and industry analysis, identifying and recommending responses to trends impacting the business.
• Ensures accurate, timely, and regulatory compliant financial reporting, including the effective management review of operating results and variances. Prepares and presents to the Senior Leadership various monthly financial and operating reports.
• Determines investment policy for and maintain proper records of the assets and investments.
• Forecasts short- and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis for maintaining proper cash flow. Directs the disbursement of funds by scheduling accounts payable, dividend payments, taxes, and payrolls. Develops cash flow projections and invests surplus cash.
• Manages the company's credit and collection activities. Approves exceptions to the credit policy.
• Develops and maintains favorable relationships with banks, investors, credit monitoring agencies, auditors, insurance companies, other financial lending institutions, and industry counterparts.
• Represents the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, etc.

What does the perfect candidate look like?
Education and Experience:
• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required. Advanced education equivalent to a Master’s in Business Administration is preferred. The position requires ten or more years of experience in financial management including development and implementation of financial management systems and information systems. Experience as a Controller or other senior financial management position in an energy/transportation related firm is preferred.

• The position requires the ability to utilize computer hardware and a proficiency in the use of word processing and spreadsheet software to manage, record, and evaluate company information.
• Well-developed oral communication skills are required to present new programs to other members of senior management and to represent company policies to departmental personnel.
• Written communication skills are required to prepare new and revised company programs and procedures, and to prepare correspondence and reports for outside agencies and entities.
• Good interpersonal skills are required to supervise personnel and to deal effectively with the Senior Leadership, bank and bonding company representatives and personnel at senior levels in other organizations.
• Knowledge of policies and practices involved in financial resource management, including statutory accounting and reporting, banking and financial markets, credit management, debt structures, capital project evaluation, and/or financial systems/concepts.
• Knowledge of financial systems modeling and analysis techniques to determine the financial viability of a product, service, or proposal.
• Knowledge of the methods and procedures involved strategic business planning and management; knows the organization's markets and products, key business processes, distribution channels, key suppliers and industry competition.
• Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution. This includes strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and operating methods; is aware of how strategies and tactics play out in the marketplace.
• Ability to effectively work and cooperate with supervisors, co-workers and vendors.
• Ability to create corporate policies and then teach and implement those policies through the Company.

What will the physical requirements be?
Physical requirements for positions include: arm and hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to use a keyboard and telephone; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; may be subject to walking, standing, sitting, and reaching; and vision, speech, and hearing sufficient to perform the essential tasks.
